About Jason D. Kalar
Sifu (Instructor in Chinese) Jason began training in the Martial Arts at the age of five. Growing up seeing Action movies of Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme and Comic book and cartoon heros etc.. excited him and peaked his interest like so many other children as well.
Without going into details, Jason had also been exposed at a young age and throughout his life to some rough and difficult encounters, as many others have. Giving him the further desire to pursue and become proficient in the Martial Arts.
Finding the means of protecting himself and those he cares for grew very high on his list.
Jason studied under several Kung-fu San Soo masters that had all been trained by the late Grandmaster Jimmy H. Woo first. Later on he also sought other teachers and instruction in other arts, systems, and styles.
Master's Larry Dusatko, Ted Sias, Darrell Clardy, Bill Hulsey, and Carl Lorenzon are some who Jason Credits for shaping him in the art of Kung-fu San Soo the most. There were others as well.
He would assist his instructor with kids and self defense classes. At the age of 19 he began to teach publicly through local gyms and recreation centers. At age 23 Jason began instruction of Jr. San Soo (Kung-fu for kids) classes through the N.O.C.C.C.D at Cypress College. Three years later he began instruction for the Adult Kung-Fu San Soo and self-defense classes there as well.
